| Background | The Australian Memory of the World program welcomes the introduction of Commonwealth and State privacy principles, which strengthen our own existing ethical standards regarding the collection and use of personal information. In the course of its functions the program may collect personal information. This information is kept by the program in strict accordance with the appropriate legislations. Information collected will only be used for the purpose for which it was collected and all records and electronic data are protected from unauthorised use, or access. The disposal of information that is no longer required for such purposes will be carried out in accordance with legal and organisational requirements. This information will not be disclosed without consent unless required by law or a legal authority. Reasonable access to the information will be provided to individuals or their appointed representatives should they require details about personal information held. | Internet privacy | The Australian Memory of the World program respects and acknowledges that your privacy is important and you have the right to control how your personal information is used. We do not collect any personal information on visitors to this website. However, in all things internet-related, logs are kept to record all manner of activity, and for all manner of reasons. We do not use "cookies" or other technology to track visits, however, when you visit our site, your computer's unique (and possibly temporary) IP address is recorded in our log files along with the time of your visit and what items were viewed/downloaded. This information is used to help diagnose any problems with our server, and to allow all visitors to see what pages and directories are most popular across our website, as shown in our current log files at http://www.amw.org.au/LOGS/webalizer. We will not attempt to identify visitors or their browsing activity. However, in the unlikely event of an investigation our hosting logs may be inspected by a law enforcement agency or other government agency exercising legal authority. | |||
